The China National Peking Opera brings the magic of the East to Athens Concert Hall, with a performance of the epic masterpiece “Female Generals of the Yang Family”. An hymn to the courage and the intelligence of the women of China, the production includes music, singing, pantomime, martial arts, dance and acrobatic displays. This is a unique spectacle with impressive costumes and scenery, which is hosted for the first time in Greece, on Sunday, 17 September, at 8:00 p.m. in Alexandra Trianti Hall, with Greek supertitles.

«Female Generals of the Yang Family», tells the touching story of the famous family of the Yang generals from the North Song dynasty. The leading figure is the grandmother of the family, She Taijun, who, while preparing a birthday meal for her grandson Yang Zongbao, who has been fighting  at the border, learns the sad news of his death in battle. Meanwhile, all the Yang men have fallen heroically in battle, leaving only women and children alive. Despite her old age, She Taijun will lead the female family army to the battlefield and, after many adventures, eventually defeat the enemy and return victorious to the homeland.

The China National Peking Opera performance is part of the programme of events for the 2017 Greece-China Year of Cultural Exchanges.
