China's two largest online platforms, iQiyi / Baidu and Alibaba / Youku, expressed their interest in producing audiovisual content in Greece, after meeting with Secretary General for Communication and Media, Lefteris Kretsos, during his recent visit to China, in June 2018.
Acknowledging the comparative advantages of Greece, Mr. Gong Yu, Managing Director of iQiyi - China's most popular online entertainment company - underlined the company's intention to explore the possibilities for broadcasting audiovisual content in Greece. Youku's website editor, Ms. Zhang Lina, Vice-President Mrs. Yang, and the General Director of Cultural Program Production, Mr. He, also expressed their company‘s interest for the production of fiction and cultural content in our country.
Finally, at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival - China's oldest and largest Film Festival and one of the largest in Asia - Mr. Kretsos presented the recent investment incentive for audiovisual productions in Greece (cash rebate 25%) to more than 100 Chinese producers. Chinese companies have indeed agreed to produce four films in our country over the next two years.
