A new travel guide on Greece, by Miao Bin and Eley Yuan, has just been published in China and was presented at the One Way Space bookstore in Beijing, on 3 December.
The book, in Chinese, focuses on cultural tourism in Greece, including information about museums, sites, festivals and other cultural activities. Its authors, Miao Bin and his wife Eley Yuan, are the only Chinese travel bloggers who have lived in Greece and are members of the Travel Bloggers Greece networking group. They are also active in the main Chinese social media and their book got a high score (9.4/10), in the most popular Chinese book reviewing website douban.com.
At the presentation, Miao Bin talked about the book and his experience in Greece with his wife Eley Yuan. The author underlined that Greece is a land not only full of beautiful landscapes, but also rich in culture and history. Noting that art and travel should go hand in hand, he pointed to the book “Adventure with Greek Gods”, as a guide that aims to help those who want to travel to Greece through art. Musicians Chang Jing and Zhang Di, who have appeared in Greece, performed at the event, presenting works from their new album, called “Aegean”, which is a mix of Greek and Chinese music.
Mr Lampros Kazis, from the Press & Communication Office of the Greek Embassy, talked about the book and thanked Miao Bin for his efforts to promote Greek culture. In addition, he answered questions from the audience about Greece.
An upward trend in tourism-related Chinese publications about Greece has been observed recently. This is reflected not only in general publications but also in publications that focus on thematic tourism or present Greece from the vantage point of specialized activities that focus on the participation of the reader-traveler and the active discovery of tourist routes and itinararies. Such editions correspond to an emerging trend in the tourism market towards individual tourism, experience tourism, cultural, or educational tourism, etc.
