With a commemorative series of stamps and the presentation of the book "LI KI - Ritual and etiquette in ancient China organization of society and state", Hellenic Post (ELTA) is honouring the 2017 Greece-China Year of Cultural Exchanges, on the occasion of the 82nd Thessaloniki International Fair.
Hellenic Post (ELTA) as an agent of culture, supports and promotes the strengthening of cultural relations between Greece and China by issuing a commemorative series of stamps titled "2017 – Greece-China Year of Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation of the Cultural Industries of Greece - China", coupled with the publication of the book "LI KI - Ritual and etiquette in ancient China organization of society and state".
The two will be presented at a special event, at the Thessaloniki Royal Theatre (Vassiliko), on Friday 8 September, at 20:00. Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media minister, Mr Nikos Pappas and HE, the ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Greece, Mr Zou Xiaoli will address the event.
The event coincides with the first day of circulation of the stamps, which mark the meeting of two great ancient civilizations of Greece and China in the present, as spiritual cradles of West and East.
The LI KI book is one of the earliest texts of Chinese literature. Published by ELTA, it is translated for the first time in the Greek language. The book will be presented by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr Dimitris Mavroskoufis, writer and translator, Dr Christos Kafteranis, and Mr Michalis Psylos, President of the Athens-Macedonia News Agency as moderator.
During the event, an exhibition showcasing portraits of ancient Greek and Chinese philosophers by painter Stamatina Noutsouli will be on display at the Royal Theatre’s lobby.
The event is open to the public.
