The "Antikythera Shipwreck” Exhibition at Beijing’s Palace Museum

“The Antikythera Shipwreck” exhibition of the Greek National Archaeological Museum, one of the most successful exhibitions ever organized in Greece, is displayed at the Palace Museum located within Beijing's Forbidden City, which served as the administrative, economic and cultural center of most Chinese empires in the past and it is visited in average by as many as 40.000 people per day.

The exhibition is a cooperation between the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and The Palace Museum of Beijing, within the framework of cultural exchanges that begun during the Greece-China 2017 -Year of Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation in Creative Industries, and the exhibits consist of 342 antiquities, 6 modern models from the National Archaeological Museum, one work from the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities and one work from the Benaki Museum.

The inauguration ceremony took place on September 14th, in the presence of the Secretary General of Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ms. Maria Vlazaki, the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Leonidas Rokanas, and the Director of the National Archaeological Museum, Ms. Maria Lagogianni.

The exhibition will last till December 16, 2018.
