Masterpieces from the National Art Museum of China on display at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens.
The National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) is hosting the exhibition XIEYI CHINESE PAINTING: Masterpieces from the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) from 22 September to through 14 November 2017, as part of events for the Greece-China Year of Cultural Exchanges.
The exhibition launches EMST's collaboration with NAMOC which aims to build bridges and deepen the relations between the two cultures, help disseminate Chinese culture in Greece, exchange cultural and artistic knowledge and practices. In its turn, NAMOC will host an EMST exhibition in Beijing in 2018.
The exhibition which is divided into three parts -Free-style Painting, Illustration, Artistic Conception - expresses NAMOC’s intention to promote the culture and ethos of Chinese culture. The works of the exhibition reflect the richness of Chinese art, signs of modern times as well as the humanist spirit that runs the 5,000 years of Chinese artistic tradition. Through them, the public will experience the noble luxury of academic painting and the fluid grace of aesthetic iconography. Ancient Greece, cradle of Western civilization, has exerted a great influence on the course of world history through its cultural and technological evolution. China, one of the four great ancient civilizations in the world, has a cultural tradition that carries on unhindered while the country develops trade and technology at a dizzying pace.
The exhibition opens on Friday 22 September. EMST, seeking to give as many people as possible a chance to visit the exhibition and get acquainted with Chinese art, will have free entrance until 1st October 2017.
