A 6-member high-level delegation of the Chinese Armed Forces visited, on Friday, June 2, 2017, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff HQ (HNDGS), in the context of a bilateral 2017 Military Cooperation Programme.
The expansion of relations with China in the spheres of telecommunications, culture, cinema and the audiovisual cultural industry, as well as through economic cooperation and investments, constitutes a “strategic choice for Greece”, said Greek Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas.
As a far-reaching 21st century initiative, building on the wisdom of the ancient Chinese Silk Road, hailed the One Belt One Road project PM Alexis Tsipras, addressing the high level Forum in Beijing on May 14-15, 2017.
Prime minister Alexis Tsipras visited Beijing on 12-15 May to attend a high level Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. In Beijing, Tsipras had meetings with the President and the Prime minister of China, Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang. He also addressed the 2nd Greek-Chinese City Forum and inaugurated the Greek Studies Centre at the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
This year marks the 45th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Greece and the People’s Republic of China (June 5, 1972), following which an Embassy of Greece was set up in Beijing, while the country maintains General Consulates in Shanghai, in Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
